Dalvin Cook injury update

Cook suffered a dislocated shoulder on Sunday, opening the door for Alexander Mattison to have an expanded role. However, it looks like Cook could return soon. The talented back has a history of shoulder dislocations as well as an unrepaired labrum tear. He will likely wear a harness in future games and should be healthy enough to play Sunday morning in London. Unless Cook injures his shoulder again, his existing injury and the presence of the harness shouldn’t detract from his fantasy value too much. He still falls into the RB1 midrange against the Saints, assuming he’s active.

D’Andre Swift injury update

Swift suffered a shoulder sprain in Week 3 that put him in a supporting role behind Jamaal Williams. Head coach Dan Campbell said Tuesday that Swift could benefit by skipping the next two games to let his shoulder heal and then returning after the Lions’ bye week. While it remains to be seen if Campbell follows through on that plan, the fantasy managers should prepare to be without Swift for nearly a month. In his absence, Williams will see more involvement as a runner and receiver, ranking as a mid-range WR2.

Joe Mixon Injury Update

Mixon (ankle) was restricted to practice on Monday, then became a full participant on Tuesday. Unless he suffers a setback, it looks like he should play on a short turnover next Thursday. Still, fantastic managers invested in Mixon’s availability might consider adding Mixon’s replacement, Samaje Perine, if they have any vacant benches or IR spots.

David Montgomery Injury Update

Montgomery left Sunday’s game early and was quickly diagnosed with knee and ankle injuries. Although it is concerning that he suffered two different injuries during a game, head coach Matt Eberflus provided clarification on Montgomery’s availability, calling it “day to day” and declining to say if he could land on injured reserve. As of now, the odds of him playing in Week 4 are less than favorable. As long as Montgomery is sidelined, explosive youngster Khalil Herbert has intrigue as a solid mid-to-high RB2 option in fantasy football.

Just weeks after being shot in a robbery attempt, Robinson returned to the football field and hit the roads ahead of Sunday’s game against the Eagles. Robinson may not return until Week 5, but once he joins the active roster, the rookie could compete with Antonio Gibson for a share of touches, giving him fantastic appeal. Fantasy managers with a vacant IR spot should look to add Robinson in case he carves out an important role. At worst, it remains a depth option and can be dropped in a few weeks.

Homer (ribs) left Week 3 early. In the aftermath of Sunday’s loss, the Seahawks signed Godwin Igwebuike, suggesting Homer’s availability for Week 4 is highly uncertain. Regardless of Homer being active next Sunday, he and Igwebuike should be left free in most fantasy leagues.
