Fortnite Chapter 4 is set to launch in December. Here’s everything we know so far, based on various leaks and subtle in-game clues from Epic Games themselves.
A number of new Season 4 cosmetics include descriptions that hint at the end of Chapter 3:
While these descriptions might seem normal for Fortnite items, when you take a look at similar cosmetics introduced in Chapter 2 Season 8, it’s clear that this is a teaser. The following descriptions were added to Fortnite a month before the announcement of the Chapter 2 Final Event:
- page turner Emote: “Just a second, I’m almost at the end of the chapter.”
- Rendering of reality Pickaxe: “This staff has ended countless realities. Soon the island will join them.”
- Cubic Vortex: “Time is running out for you. Tick, tick, tick.”
“The Nothing” has been mentioned a lot by in-game characters, cosmetic descriptions, and even Epic Games Creative Director Donald Mustard. Mustard first mentioned The Nothing in October 2021 when replying to his own tweet which read “EVERYTHING changes”, to which he replied “or… NOTHING”. He was mentioned again four days later in a Fortnitemares trailer quote tweet “Wrath of The Cube Queen”, this time capitalized with the word “Nothing”.
Most recently, The Nothing was mentioned as part of the in-game Week 1 Paradise Quests. ‘ll send everything I know. Stay safe. And listen, there’ll be no second chances here. The Nothing is –”. After hearing this, Jones says “Did she say ‘nothing’? Or-or-or-or ‘The Nothing’, capital T, capital N?”.
Paradigm later says “If there’s a way to get through this, we’ll need to know all about The–. Starting with Chrome. We’ve done a few experiments, but you’ll probably need more data.”
It looks like we’ll learn more about The Nothing as Season 4 progresses.
Map of Asteria
Data miners recently discovered that Fortnite developers are testing a new map named Asteria. Asteria is the name of a Greek goddess, which follows the naming pattern used for previous chapter islands:
- Chapter 1 – code name Athena
- Chapter 2 – code name Apollo
- Chapter 3 – code name Artemis
- Chapter 4 – code name Asteria?
Interestingly, Epic has never used a Greek codename for anything other than a new map in the past, which makes it even more likely that Asteria is the name of the island in Chapter 4. The Asteria map is labeled “Test S23”. We are currently on version v22.00 of Fortnite.
Similarities with Fortnite Cubed
Chapter 2 Season 8, titled “Cubed,” brought the chapter’s story to an end thanks to map corruption, an evil character, and, of course, a huge live event. All of these are present in Chapter 3 Season 4 as well. The Chromium will spread across the island by December, much like the Cube Corruption did last year. Greasy Grove’s takeover of Chrome has already been officially announced in the Season 4 Battle Pass trailer:
Thanks to the leaks, we know that Epic prepared a live event during the v22.40 update, which should be released at the end of November. Data miners also revealed that v22.40 is currently slated to be the last update of the season, with the patch having been for v23.
As always, we’ll keep you posted if anything else about Chapter 4 comes to light.
